ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
Root Canal is a way of saving teeth from extreme dental decay. When the infection and decay in the tooth have traveled to the pulp (nerves) the tooth is no longer salvageable. That is when our dentist will perform a Root Canal on your decayed tooth. The following are the steps to a root canal.
Assessment
The dentist will clinically examine you and get your X-rays done.
Anesthesia
Referring to the site of infection from the X-rays they will administer local anesthesia to the area of the procedure.
Isolation
A rubber dam will be placed to prepare the site and provide access to the decayed tooth.
Pulp Extraction
A small opening is made on the tooth to extract the decayed pulp and clean the root canals.
Disinfection & Filling
The emptied root canals are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and filled with gutta-percha.
Sealing and Restoration
The opening is permanently sealed and the tooth is reshaped to fit a dental crown. Discuss your material options with the dentist.
After Care
Your dentist will give you instructions on how to take care of your post-procedure tooth.
